Sunbeam-Talbot

80, 90

1948-1954

The Sunbeam-Talbot 80 and 90 were introduced in July 1948 as an entirely new body for the pre-war Sunbeam-Talbot Ten. As before sports saloon and drophead coupé bodies were offered. The 80 was fitted with a revision of the Minx / Ten's 1,185 cc four cylinder engine. It was discontinued in September 1950, with 3,500 units having been produced. The 90 was fitted with a modified version of the 1,944 cc Humber Hawk four-cylinder engine. A Mk II model was introduced in September 1950, with the engine enlarged to 2,267 cc. The front of the 90's body was modified; the headlights were raised to meet international regulations and the fog and driving lights were moved and remounted to leave air inlet grilles on either side of the radiator. The 1952 Mk IIA had a more powerful engine and was fitted with enlarged brakes. The Sunbeam-Talbot 90 Mk IIA was the last car to bear the Sunbeam-Talbot name. After 1954 the car was marketed as the Sunbeam Mk III which remained in production until 1957.
