Sunbeam

The Sunbeam Hunter, Vogue and Minx were export-market versions of Rootes’ Arrow range, launched in 1966 and better known in Britain under the Hillman and Singer marques. The Hunter was the mainstream version, generally with the 1,725 cc four-cylinder engine, while the Minx was the more economical 1,496 cc model. The better-equipped Vogue was essentially the Sunbeam equivalent of the Singer Vogue. All shared conventional rear-wheel drive, MacPherson-strut front suspension and a live rear axle. After Chrysler took over Rootes in 1967, the various marques initially continued. Singer disappeared in 1970, followed by Hillman, Humber and Sunbeam in 1976 as Chrysler rationalised its European operations. The long-lived Hunter subsequently continued under the Chrysler name until the end of European production in 1979.
