Simca

Introduced in June 1952, the Simca 9 Sport was a stylish coupé developed from the earlier Simca 8 Sport. Its body was built by Facel-Métallon and, unlike its predecessor, used unitary construction, effectively ruling out a regular convertible version. Mechanically, the 9 Sport was closely related to the Simca Aronde, using its 1.2-litre engine but with power increased from 45 to 50 hp. For the 1953 model year, the car received completely new, more rounded bodywork with a larger glass area, again manufactured by Facel. Despite its sporting appearance and considerably higher price, its additional weight meant performance remained modest. Following minor changes for 1954, the 9 Sport name disappeared. The same body subsequently continued as the more luxurious, less sporting Simca Coupé de Ville.
