Simca

The Simca 1301 and 1501 replaced the 1300/1500 in 1966, retaining their basic mechanical layout but gaining substantially modernised styling. A longer nose, redesigned grille and, on the saloons, an extended tail with horizontal rear lights gave them a more contemporary appearance, while the interior was also updated. The 1301 initially retained the 1,290 cc engine, while the 1501 used a 1,475 cc unit. From 1968 the quicker 1501 Special offered 81 hp, and subsequent updates brought revised grilles, dashboards and improved engines. The 1501 saloon temporarily disappeared from the French range in 1970 to make room for the Chrysler 160, but returned in 1973. Production of the saloons ended in 1975, with the remaining estate versions following in early 1976.
