DAF

600

1959-1963

The DAF 600 was the first Dutch passenger car ever built. It was presented at the Amsterdam Motor Show in February 1958 and was an instant hit. Due to the great interest, DAF decided to adjust production, so it  did not start until 1959. The 600 was the first production car since the 1920s to have a continuously variable transmission (CVT) system -  the innovative DAF Variomatic. The engine was an in-house development, an air-cooled, two-cylinder engine, displacing 590 cc. In its four-year production run, more than 30,000 units had been built.
