DAF

33

1967-1974

The DAF 33 was introduced in 1967 as an updated version of the earlier DAF Daffodil, continuing the Dutch manufacturer’s focus on small, practical cars equipped with its signature Variomatic transmission. Designed and built in Eindhoven, the 33 featured a modest 746 cc, two-cylinder air-cooled engine and a compact body. Though outwardly similar to its predecessor, the 33 received mechanical refinements, including improved electrics and better interior trim. It was marketed as a reliable and easy-to-drive car, especially popular among elderly drivers and those seeking a simple, clutchless driving experience. The DAF 33 remained in production until 1974, even after the newer DAF 44 and 46 had been introduced. Its continued success was largely due to its low cost, mechanical simplicity, and the unique appeal of the Variomatic system.
