Alfetta
1972-1984
The Alfa Romeo Alfetta was launched in 1972 as a four-door saloon with a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine under the bonnet. The Alfetta GT, a two-door fastback coupé was introduced in 1974. It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign and was fitted with the same 1.8 litre engine as the saloon. At the 1975 Brussels Motor Show a 1.6 liter base model was introduced, distinguished by its single round headlights. For model year 1976 the Giulia based GT series was discontinued in favor of the Alfetta GT which was now available as GT 1.6 and GTV 2000. In 1977 the 2.0 litre engine was also avaible for the saloon, effectively becoming the successor to the ageing Alfa Romeo 2000.
