Alfa Romeo
2000, 2600
1958-1968
At the Salone dell'Automobile di Torino in October 1957, the Alfa Romeo 2000 was presented as the successor to the 1900. Production started in 1958 with the Berlina and Spider. The Sprint - one of the first designs by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone - followed in 1960. Being expensive but not very fast, the 2000 was a slow seller, in particular the Berlina which was outsold by the Spider.

At the March 1962 Geneva International Motor Show, Alfa Romeo presented the factory-built 2600 Berlina, the 2600 Spider with a body by Carrozzeria Touring and the Bertone bodied 2600 Sprint. The exclusive 2600 Sprint Zagato only entered the market in 1965. The body styling was based on the 2000 range with only minor adjustments. The engine however, was a well received, brand new 2.6 liter six cylinder in line. As with the 2000 range, the 2600 was not a commercial success with sales not exceeding 12,000 units.
