Skoda
1000 MB, 1100 MB
1964-1969
In April 1964, the Skoda 1000 MB was introduced, replacing the Octavia. It had a four-cylinder, water-cooled, 988 cc rear engine. It was a stylish four-door saloon, featuring a steeply sloping nose flanked by rounded front wings. Being a rear-engined car, the radiator and cooling fan were situated in the rear engine compartment, so a series of slats were cut into each rear wing and the rear panel to increase the flow of air that was needed for cooling the engine. For its low price, the 1000 MB was well equipped, with reclining front seats, a heater and demister, full tool kit and a generously sized boot up front. In April 1966, a two-door coupé entered production and in 1967, the 1100 MB was introduced with a bigger, 1.107 cc engine.
