NSU-Fiat, Neckar
Adria
1965-1969
In June 1965, NSU-Fiat started license-building the Fiat 850 Super, which was marketed under the name Neckar Adria. In 1968, NSU-Fiat changed to the more powerful 850 Special. Until September 1969, a total of 6,619 Adria's were assembled in Germany. The establishment of the European Economic Community had gradually decreased Germany's protective tariffs, from 90 percent in 1957 to none at all from July 1968. Since labour was more expensive in Germany than in Italy, there was no longer any reason to assemble Fiats in Heilbronn.
