Ferrari
Dino 206, 246
1967-1974
The Dino 206 GT was introduced in 1967. It was a V6 mid-engined sports cars produced by Ferrari and sold under the Dino marque. It was designed by Aldo Brovarone and Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina and had soft edges and curving lines. The Dino was fitted with a 1,987 cc all-aluminium, V6 engine and was the first car sold by Ferrari with an electronic ignition. The frame featured a light-weight, aluminium body, full independent suspension, and all round disc brakes. In total, 152 units were built between 1967 and 1969.
Calls for more power were answered in 1969, with a new 2,419 cc V6 engine. The Dino was available as a fixed-top 246 GT coupé or, after 1971, an open Spyder 246 GTS. The slightly revised body was now mostly made of steel to save cost. Dino 246 production numbered 2,295 GT coupés and 1,274 GTS spyders, making it the first automobile manufactured by Ferrari in high numbers.
