Buick

The Buick Skyhawk was introduced in September 1974 as a compact, rear-wheel-drive hatchback. It was essentially a badge-engineered version of the Chevrolet Monza, both built on the same H-body platform derived from the Chevrolet Vega. Designed to offer a smaller, more fuel-efficient alternative during the oil crisis, the Skyhawk featured sporty styling but struggled to find a strong market position. Initially available only as a two-door hatchback, the first-generation Skyhawk never achieved significant commercial success. Production ended quietly in December 1979. Despite this, Buick revived the Skyhawk name in 1982 for a second-generation model.
