Avanti II

Avanti II

1965-2006

After Studebaker ended production at South Bend in December 1963, the "Avanti" model name, tooling, Studebaker truck production rights, as well as parts and plant space were bought by local Studebaker dealers, Nate and Arnold Altman and Leo Newman. They incorporated as the Avanti Motor Corporation and introduced a slightly modified version of the car in 1965 under the brand name Avanti II. Initially, the cars were produced from leftover Studebaker components, later on General Motors and Ford chassis and engines were used. The Avanti II was a luxurious, hand-built car with annual production rarely exceeding 150 units.
