Plymouth

Presented in the autumn of 1975 and introduced for the 1976 model year, the Plymouth Volaré replaced the long-running Valiant as Chrysler’s new compact offering. Built on the all-new F-platform, it was available as a two-door coupé, four-door sedan and five-door station wagon, with a focus on improved comfort, fuel economy and modern engineering. The Volaré featured a redesigned front suspension and extensive wind tunnel development to enhance refinement and efficiency. It was named Motor Trend Car of the Year for 1976 alongside its Dodge Aspen sister model. Despite its promising start, the Volaré became notorious for quality issues, recalls and rust problems, which damaged its reputation. Production ended in 1980, after which it was replaced by the front-wheel-drive Plymouth Reliant.
