Simca

The Simca 1300 and 1500 arrived in 1963 as replacements for the long-running Aronde range. Essentially two versions of the same large family car, they used 1,290 cc and 1,475 cc four-cylinder engines respectively, with differences in trim and exterior details such as their grilles and bumpers. Initially offered as four-door saloons, the range expanded with a 1500 estate in 1964 and a 1300 estate the following year. The estates featured an unusual split tailgate with a wind-down rear window, while some versions offered additional child seats or even a removable luggage floor that doubled as a picnic table. Popular particularly in France and Germany, the 1300 and 1500 remained in production until 1966, when they evolved into the restyled 1301 and 1501.
