Panhard

Introduced in 1964, the Panhard 24 was a stylish front-wheel-drive coupé that became the final passenger car produced by the French manufacturer. Although its sleek, aerodynamic body was thoroughly modern, it retained Panhard's compact 848 cc air-cooled engine, available in outputs of 42 or 50 hp. Initially offered as the short-wheelbase 24 C and better-equipped 24 CT, the range expanded in 1965 with the longer-wheelbase 24 B and 24 BT, providing additional passenger space. Advanced features such as height-adjustable seats, excellent visibility and, on later models, front disc brakes gave the car a refined character. However, Citroën, which had gained control of Panhard, blocked further development, including planned four-door and estate versions. Sales never reached expectations and production ended in July 1967 after around 28,600 cars had been built, marking the end of Panhard as a passenger car manufacturer.
