Vauxhall
Firenza
1971-1975
The Vauxhall Firenza was launched in May 1971 as a coupé derivative of the Viva, aimed at rivals like the Ford Capri and Morris Marina Coupé. At launch, it was available with a range of engines, but within just a few months, these engines were revised and enlarged to offer improved performance.
In 1973, the Firenza received a significant restyling, most notably a new aerodynamic front end with flush headlights behind a slanted nose. The look drew comparisons to cars like the Renault Alpine A310 and the Ferrari Daytona. Officially named the Firenza HP (High Performance), the model quickly gained the nickname "droopsnoot" due to its distinctive styling.
