Reliant

Launched in 1975, the Reliant Kitten was the company’s compact four-wheeled alternative to the popular three-wheeled Robin. Although heavily based on the Robin, it featured a redesigned front suspension, a roomier cabin and a new 850 cc engine, developed specifically for the model. The Kitten was available as a saloon, estate and later a van, with the luxurious DL version arriving in 1976. Sales never matched those of the Robin, and from 1978 production became available only by special order. UK production ended in 1982 after 4,551 cars had been built, although production continued in India as the Sipani Dolphin until the mid-1990s.
