Morris

Introduced in October 1948, the Morris Six Series MS was Morris Motors’ first post-war six-cylinder model and represented the company’s entry into the upper middle-class market. Sharing much of its design with the Morris Oxford and Minor, both developed under the direction of Alec Issigonis, the Six featured a larger body and a longer wheelbase to accommodate its smooth 2,215 cc six-cylinder engine. Producing 70 hp, the engine gave the car respectable performance for its day, with a top speed of 130 km/h. Like other new Morris models of the period, it employed unitary construction and independent front suspension with torsion bars, making it technically advanced by British standards. Closely related to the more luxurious Wolseley 6/80, the Morris Six combined spacious accommodation with modern engineering. Production continued until 1953, when a de luxe version with leather upholstery and additional equipment was introduced shortly before the model was replaced by the Morris Isis.
